A Sneak Peek at the Rambo Cinematic Adventure™

Hello Evil Minions,

Welcome to the next installment of our CA sneak peeks. This time we’re going to focus on the Rambo franchise. I grew up on Rambo movies. When I think of the iconic action film, I think of Sly Stallone and his famous one-person army.

What's a Cinematic Adventure?

Cinematic Adventures are a tool we use to introduce you to this iconic movie property world. Half of this 100-page printed or digital book will focus on introducing new mechanics within this world. The second half will be an adventure introducing you to this campaign setting.

What's in Part 1?

Rambo’s world will be our most modern setting - taking place in the here and now. You can expect a detailed look at military special forces, in terms of character options, equipment, and storytelling. We will also take a look at world hot spots of the past century where special forces have seen action.

What’s in Part 2?

The second part will be a full-fledged adventure highlighting more details about the setting while creating a thrilling story. As elite special forces, you will find yourself up against near-impossible odds that will take all your cunning, determination, and firepower to overcome.

5 Hints about the Rambo Cinematic Adventure and Beyond

1. He just wanted something to eat. Rambo is both a tragic and heroic figure, a man with a good heart, trained to kill for his country, betrayed by corruption, and unable to find a place to belong. In contrast, his adventures are cathartic combat with big explosions against incredible odds. You can expect us to feature more combat and explosions, but we will pay homage to all the themes in the films.
 

2. Rambo Lives. We will provide detailed stats for Rambo and possibly other characters in the franchise. While the adventure won’t center around John, his presence will be felt and he may show up for a cameo or two. Of course, nothing stops you from playing Rambo himself if that is your jam!
 

3. Soldiers of Fortune. Rambo will include a look at soldiers of fortune and mercenary companies. They make a great framework for special forces-themed adventures and often serve as the bad guys in military action stories.
 

4. It’s a Dangerous World. Soldiers are not the ones who create wars, they are the ones asked to fight them on the behalf of others. Wherever there is life or death conflict, you will find soldiers carrying out their missions and putting their lives on the line. This adventure will take a look at major conflicts of the last 100 years where special forces have seen action.

5. Mass Carnage. The First Blood films are famous for their violent mayhem. In First Blood, John Rambo takes no lives, but as the series goes on, his body count skyrockets. We will be showing you how to tweak Everyday Heroes to create mass combat scenarios as you see in Rambo, while still having fast and fun storytelling.

Welcome to the next installment of our CA sneak peeks. This time we’re going to focus on Universal Soldier. It’s a film paired Dolph Lundren and Jean Claude Van Damme - two amazing action stars in the 90s. This setting is a great one for military adventures and takes Everyday Heroes into the realm of cybernetics, combat implants, mind control, and other elements that can create amazing adventure stories.

What's a Cinematic Adventure?

Cinematic Adventures are a tool we use to introduce you to the world of this iconic movie property. Half of this 100-page printed or digital book will be focused on introducing new mechanics within this world. The second half will be an adventure introducing you to this campaign setting.

What's in Part 1?

The first part will usually introduce one or more new classes, as well as backgrounds and professions that are specific to this world. In many cases, we’ll have to also introduce new rules mechanics to make the world function. In other cases, we will flesh out the popular locations within the world so you can create your own adventures.

What’s in Part 2?

The second part will be a full-fledged adventure set within the world. You can expect serious action in this adventure but we won’t skimp on the story. Whether you decide to follow the directives of your shadowy masters or break free and set your own course is your decision. Just be ready for the consequences and bring plenty of high explosives.

5 Hints about the Total Recall Cinematic Adventure

1. You Were Dead. Universal Soldiers are created from recently fallen, elite war veterans, animated by cybernetics. For better or worse, this is your second chance. Players will have options to choose from a number of backgrounds celebrating your amazing accomplishments when you were alive. There’s a reason why the program chose you, after all.

2. You’re UniSol Property.  As a UniSol enhanced being, you are officially government property - an asset of Black Tower. Should you have the willpower to break free of their command, they are going to want to get their property back.  A little advice... Sleep with one eye open.
 

3. Play awakened or non-awakened. You had a past, but do you remember it? Either you’re on the neural serum or not. If you’re on it, your cybernetics are working at optimal performance, but you won’t remember who you are or where you come from. The choice will be yours.
 

4. Experimental Tech Can Be Glitchy. These powerful cybernetics provide enhanced self-healing abilities and superior strength, but they also tend to overheat and shut down. So you will need to choose wisely when you use your tech.
 

5. Replace Your Body Parts. Whether you were part of the UniSol program or just want a system upgrade, cybernetic implants will be made available to the players. You will be able to acquire cybernetics through feats. Through this election, you can buy a robotic leg to run faster, a new arm to break down doors, or a new eye to see in the dark... There is something for everyone.
